HEALTHIER SNACK

Ok, so we all have cravings. Even when we try our hardest to stay on track and be healthy, we crack. However, it’s actually a good thing to indulge once in a while. The guilt of the indulgence will make you more interested in eating salads the rest of the week. However, be smart about it ladies, if you’re going to have a “cheat” snack, have a homemade one.

I love chips and salsa – one of my favorite snacks, but I don’t like salsa in jars that I find at the grocery stores, so I did some research on pinterest on homemade salsa! There were a few that were interesting, one in particular stood out & I tweaked it to my liking :) Here is what I used: 5 crushed tomatoes, tomato juice (about 200ml will do, depending on how much servings you life – this will yield enough for a full bag of tortilla chips), 1/4 of a red ognion, 1 garlic clove, 1 small piece of hot pepper (you can add more if you want it to be more spicy), salt & pepper, 1/4 of a tea spoon of cumin, 3/4 cup of cilantro leaves & half a lime.

Here is the receipe I inspired myself from: http://www.christinacreative.com/homemade-salsa/

Bon appetit! :)

I do this all of the time too, with almost exactly the same recipe!! I like my salsa chunky, so instead of using crushed tomatoes I chop up fresh tomatoes and I add olive oil.
