Blue Life boho paisley romper – Shopbop ( similar:Tassel Front Paisley Romper – Shoptiques)  // Gladiator Sandals – Just Fab // Jessica Simpson cream bucket bag (similar: Vince Camuto ‘Lorin’ Drawstring Tote -Nordstrom – ON SALE!)

Hope you guys had an amazing Grand Prix weekend! Mine was filled with awesome events, from Santos sangria night, to the MtlPitStopParty at the W Hotel for the Masabni fashion show to the Bow & Tie event at Le Crystal for the Simons & Vestibule fashion show! I am really exhausted…but loved every minute! What did you guys do this weekend?

Even though festivals like Coachella & now the GrandPrix have come and gone, here in Montreal, we are just getting started on the festivities! For instance, Piknic Electronik happens every Sunday from May until end of September! My favortie thing to wear to a festival is a boho outfit & my comfiest flat sandals, like the ones I am wearing here :) I love to dance so something light and easy to move in is key! I got this paisley romper from Shopbop a few months back and I couldn’t wait for summer to finally get here so that I can wear it! I love it! So comfortable and so pretty! And of course, my obsession with rompers is not news to you guys…lol As for the gladiator sandals, I was really on the fence at 1st. I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off, but I am sooo glad I took the leap!!! Totally in love with these ones from JustFab that I snagged for $20 during the Victoria Day weekend! ;)

Back to Piknic Electronik! If you like house music, you will like this event! Various Djs grace the stage, and you can dance the night away under the sun with the view of downtown Mtl! One of these infamous DJs is Michael Terzian! He is one-half of the Gold Diggerz crew, alongside The RawSoul, the DJ-duo who rocked the Videotron Mobile stage a few weeks ago at Piknic. I am happy to present to you an exclusive interview with him:

Q: How did it all begin?
A: I graduated from McGill University with majors in Physiology and Occupational Therapy. Since childhood, I was always into Rap music, following artists like Grandmaster Flash and Run-D.M.C. I also played baseball (as a pitcher), but that ended when I injured my shoulder. My college friends gave me House music tapes to listen to, which spawned my passion for this style of music.

Q: How did your style evolve?
A: After the injury, I started jogging regularly, and found that House music was better suited for this sort of exercise than Rap. Not long after, I began buying House records, as I transitioned towards the House genre.

Q: When did you start deejaying?
A: I started deejaying in 1995 when I was working at the HMV music store and had my first gig in 1996.

Q: How did this evolve into a career?
A: I began deejaying in local clubs and restaurants, and soon enough, I was invited to join the legendary Utopia’s Paradise radio crew over at CKUT 90.3FM, where I stayed for 10 years. In 2001, I went to a House music party at Club Shelter in NYC & loved the atmosphere & the variety of people in the crowd – I was indeed moved by the NYC experience and its relevance to House music. In 2010 I started doing my solo radio show “Salvation from Sin” (on CJLO), and my friend, The RawSoul, would regularly cover for me whenever I couldn’t be there. More recently, I got asked to play at the weekly Lofthanza party on Sunday nights at Le Salon Daome, and I was booked alongside The RawSoul. Together, we threw down an epic set for the ages! We then decided to team up and create our Gold Diggerz project. When the good people at Piknic Electronik learned of our new collaboration, they proposed to give us their opening party on May 17, in order to launch our new alliance. And what a memorable day it turned out to be!

Q: Can you describe the meaning behind Gold Diggerz?
A: The “Gold Diggerz” moniker refers to the art of digging deep for vinyl and getting our fingers dirty. We’re basically on a constant hunt to find that musical ’gold’. The name also touches upon our love of Hip Hop culture, since it kind of sounds like “The Gravediggaz”, an old Wu-Tang affiliated crew.

Q: What are your next big moves?
A: This coming June 13th, I will be playing for the first time ever in Detroit, for Rick Wilhite’s birthday jam, along with DJs like Boo Williams and Glenn Underground. I’m excited because Detroit is the centre of the Earth as it pertains to Techno music. Then, on July 18th, Gold Diggerz is playing at Le Bleury Bar A Vinyle here in Montreal.

Well, there you have it guys, a quick snapshot of DJ Michael Terzian! Have a wonderful and fun-filled Piknic Electronik season!

Kisses,

WCX
