MAXI DRESSES & SRAW HATS

I feel like I have so many things to share…so let’s take a deep breath and let’s do this! So, 1st of all, Summers (or if you can call this unpredictable ever-changing weather we are having in Montreal as “Summer”) are made of maxi dresses: Easy to wear, light, instant outfits! Just look at this California Moonrise off the shoulder red floral maxi perfection – drooling over it, I swear. Probably one of my favourite things in my closet! I have been wearing this brand from its inception and I feel it just gets better and better with time (like wine, another thing I love, but let’s not get side-tracked)!

I paired this beauty with a straw hat from Canadian Hat! The company recently merged with Harricana par Mariouche and I had an exclusive tour of their Design Atelier located on Jean Talon. Honestly guys, I have a new-found respect for hats! Every single one is handmade right here in Montreal by highly skilled individuals and literally takes hours to make! They need to be soaked, shaped, cut & decorated. The shape of each hat comes from either metal or wood molds that can only be purchased in Europe (the wooden ones can only be found in Italy) and each one costs an astounding amount! The compsny has 3K different molds!!! Can you imagine?!?! They can make pretty much any hat shape imaginable; anything from straw hats to fur hats – sky’s the limit and Mariouche is by far the most creative individual I have met this far. She has followed an amazing career path, studied in the top school in Italy, made some amazing creations, yet she remains sweet, down to earth & humble  -(my kinda people)! I had a blast discovering the trait of hat making and I appreciate the hat I got at their Old Port boutique even more (if interested, here is the address:416 Rue McGill, Montréal)!

Of course, the look is not complete without a kick ass pair of shoes! This particular one is from Little Burgundy! You probably must have heard of the brand Hibou! It’s actually the house brand of Little Burgundy and this Fall their are officially lunching it their house brand. Let me tell you, these leather rose gold sandals are ultra soft and comfy, not to mention stylish & simply AH-mazing! I have been living in them since they came home with me. They only cost $60, which is amazing for leather flats. I am hooked, and from what I have seen at their Fall preview, there is a ton to get excited about – my faves: burgundy velvet knee high boots!

And breathe. The end!

P.S. How amazing is this location and of course my photographer? Looks like I’m on vacation somewhere in Italy – I wish, instead I am sitting at my desk at the office, lol.
